STEAM-Based Art Exploration

Curious Creators is a 45-minute play-based, exploratory class for Pre-K children building independence, fine motor skills, and early academic foundations. We'll explore fun weekly themes through hands-on activities and process-based art, while also working on early cutting, writing, and number/letter recognition skills.

Students will move through creative centers at their own pace, developing skills in self-regulation, following directions, and trying new things on their own — all essential for kindergarten readiness.

 

For the first few classes, one adult per child must stay to support the transition and help with routines. Due to limited space, only one adult per child is allowed, and siblings may not attend. After the transition period, drop-off may be possible based on your child’s readiness. Children who are not fully potty trained must have an adult remain on-site.

What to Bring:  A water bottle if needed.  Please no personal toys, electronics, or art supplies.

Some stations may be switched out or added depending on weekly theme.

 

Skills:

·       Early number sense and letter/sound recognition

·       Color, shape and size identification

·       Problem-solving and critical thinking

·       Following multi-step directions

·       Fine motor development: scissors, pencil-grip, beading, stamping, etc. 

·       Process-based art and experimentation and sensory exploration

·       Expressing ideas through open-ended play

·       Building confidence and independence, practicing turn-taking and sharing and learning to express feelings appropriately

·       Regulating emotions and behaviors in a group setting and developing persistence and patience through challenges

·       Managing personal belonging and practicing classroom routine while asking for help appropriately
