How to do Drop-Off and Pick-Up?We want every day at Canvas & Code to begin and end smoothly. Please review the following guidelines to ensure a safe, respectful, and efficient experience for all students and families. Drop-Off There is ample parking available in both the front and back of the building. Please follow the one-way directional signs in the parking lot for safety. Both entrances to the studio may be used. The back entrance has a ramp (not fully ADA compliant, but accessible). Do not arrive earlier than 5 minutes before your class start time. Doors will remain locked until 5 minutes prior to class so staff can prepare the space. All students must be signed in by an adult, and the adult must list who will be responsible for picking the student up. Please stay with your child until they have entered the studio and help them follow respectful behavior guidelines, including: Avoiding landscaping and stairways that belong to other businesses Using Canvas & Code stairs and ramp safely Canvas & Code is not responsible for your child before they have been signed in and entered the studio. Pick-Up Please wait outside the studio until class has ended so we can use the full class time for instruction and exploration. Students will only be released to the adult listed at drop-off. If someone else is picking up your child, they may be asked to show ID. Help your child clean up their work area and gather all of their belongings before leaving. Please be on time. Prompt pick-up is essential to maintain the studio schedule and respect our instructors’ time. Students not picked up within 15 minutes of class end time will be charged $10 for each 10-minute increment thereafter. Before & After Care Some classes and camps offer before and/or after care. Students must be signed up for extended care in advance. If care is needed at the last minute, please speak with a teacher at drop-off, email, or call. If space allows, we may be able to accommodate your request for an additional fee. Before and after care have set start and end times. The studio will remain locked until before care begins. Please be prompt for aftercare pick-up. A late fee of $10 for each 10-minute increment applies after 15 minutes past the scheduled end time.
-

To help our studio stay on schedule and maintain a smooth flow between classes: Students who are not picked up within 15 minutes after the scheduled end of class or after-care will be charged $10 for every 10-minute increment thereafter. Prompt pick-up is greatly appreciated so we can properly clean, reset, and prepare for the next class or event. All teachers are First Aid and CPR certified and trained to respond to medical situations calmly and appropriately. In the event of a medical emergency: If necessary, 911 will be called immediately. Staff will administer First Aid, CPR, or other life-saving measures as needed, in the best interest of the student. A parent or guardian will be contacted as soon as the student is stable and the teacher is able to make the call. Please ensure that your emergency contact information is up to date on the registration form. What if my child has Special Abilities, Accommodations, or Circumstances?Canvas & Code is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all students. If you or your child have any special needs, accommodations, or circumstances that may affect participation or behavior—including but not limited to serious behavioral challenges, psychological, medical, or physical conditions—we ask that you: Clearly specify these needs and accommodations on the registration form. Inform us by email prior to your child’s first session so we can prepare accordingly. A conference will be scheduled with the parent or guardian to discuss you or your child’s unique circumstances and how we can best support them. Please note: Most Canvas & Code classes are taught by a single instructor. Depending on the nature of the accommodations, students may be asked to attend smaller class sizes, bring their own supports or accommodations, or have a parent or guardian attend the class with them. If a student arrives without prior notice or a conference to discuss their needs, they may be asked to return for the next class to allow us adequate time to prepare and ensure a positive experience. Thank you for partnering with us to create a welcoming and supportive space for every artist.

Can I stay for the class to help or watch? TODDLER CLASSESAn adult is required to stay with your child at all times during toddler classes. We invite you to help your child explore, engage, and enjoy the experience while offering support and guidance as needed. Our centers are open-ended and designed to let children explore creatively. Most activities do not have a “right” or “wrong” way to participate. Children are welcome to stay at a center for as long as they'd like (as supplies allow), but we encourage them to try all the stations to develop a range of skills and experiences. Please help reset the station before moving on so it is ready for the next student to use. We encourage all students and families to be mindful of shared materials and spaces to ensure a smooth, respectful experience for everyone. Mess is part of the magic! Children are encouraged to get creative, hands-on, and a little messy—as long as they are not being destructive, unsafe, or hurting others. Clean-Up: Canvas & Code handles clean-up of the space—that's the beauty of coming to our studio! You don’t have to worry about paint on your dining room table. We simply ask that you help your child stay within the designated toddler areas and avoid materials or spaces not intended for the class. We love having parents involved in toddler classes and creating joyful, creative experiences together. If you have questions about younger/older siblings tagging along, or special circumstances for observing other classes, please contact us ahead of time.

Can I stay for the class to help or watch? PRE-K CLASSESFor the first few classes, an adult is required to stay. This age group often has a wide range of independence and comfort levels with new environments. A familiar adult helps support the child’s transition into the space, learn classroom routines, and monitor behavior as needed. After the first few classes, we will check in with each family to discuss possible changes to parent involvement based on the child’s readiness. If you're interested in transitioning to drop-off, we’ll make a plan together. If your child is not fully potty trained, a parent or guardian must stay on-site—either inside the studio or just outside the door—in case bathroom assistance is needed. Only one student is allowed in the bathroom at a time, and our staff cannot assist with bathroom needs. If your child is fully potty trained, after the first few classes and a set plan with Canvas & Code, it is up to you whether you stay or drop off. We understand that each child and family has different levels of comfort with separation, and we respect those differences. That said, the goal of Pre-K classes is to help students build confidence and independence in a safe, supportive environment. Skills such as: Productive struggle Learning through mistakes Self-regulation of emotions and behavior Following directions from another adult …are all essential for kindergarten readiness. Sometimes children take more creative risks or work through challenges more effectively when a parent isn’t nearby to step in right away. We gently encourage families to allow space for independence, while being close by if needed. If you’re unsure how to support this transition or need guidance, we are happy to help. Siblings or Special Circumstances: If you have questions about younger or older siblings attending or special circumstances that require you to observe other classes, please contact us ahead of time so we can plan accordingly.

Can I stay for the class to help or watch? K+ STUDENT CLASSESClasses for K+ students are drop-off only and designed for registered students only. We kindly ask that parents and caregivers drop off and pick up without staying during class. Our studio space is intentionally set up to foster creativity, collaboration, and hands-on exploration—but it's also limited. Additional adults or siblings in the space can make it more challenging for students to engage freely and for teachers to manage class flow effectively. Pick-Up Guidelines: If you arrive early, please wait outside the studio until class ends so we can make full use of our time together. Once class is over, you're welcome to step inside to see your child’s project(s). We ask that you: Help your child clean up and gather their belongings. Check-out with the instructor before leaving. Exit within 15 minutes of class ending so we can reset for the next group. Siblings at Drop-Off or Pick-Up: If you're bringing siblings along, please monitor them closely and ensure they do not handle materials or explore studio spaces without permission. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe, calm, and productive environment for all. Special Circumstances & Needs: If your child has any special circumstances or needs that require you to attend classes with your child, please document on registration form and contact us ahead of time so we can plan accordingly, and have a conference ahead of time if needed.

Is Your Studio Allergen-Free?While Canvas & Code is not a certified allergen-free facility, we take allergies seriously and do our best to create a safe environment for all participants. Please do not bring or send any snacks or lunch items containing nuts, as some of our students have life-threatening nut allergies. We regularly use dry, uncooked sensory materials such as lentils, beans, oats, and rice, as well as Play-Doh, which contains wheat. If you or your child has an allergy to any of these materials, please: Note it clearly on the registration form Email us directly to ensure we are aware and can make appropriate accommodations We are happy to work with families to adjust materials or seating arrangements when possible. What is the Potty Training & Bath-rooming Policy? For the safety, comfort, and dignity of all students, children must be fully potty trained if they are being dropped off for Pre-K or older classes. Only one student is allowed in the bathroom at a time, and staff cannot assist with bathroom needs. If your child has an accident and is unable to clean or change themselves, or if a change of clothes is not provided, you will be contacted to return to the studio and assist. Please send a labeled change of clothes with your child, especially if your child is newly potty trained or you think they might have an accident. A changing table is provided in the bathroom for your use. Students enrolled in Toddler or Pre-K classes where an adult stays for the duration of class do not need to be potty trained. A changing table is provided in the bathroom for your use. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean, respectful, and supportive environment for all our artists.

What’s the Difference Between a Single Class, Multi-Week Session, and Full-Week Camp?At Canvas & Code, we offer a variety of learning formats to fit your schedule and interests. Here’s a breakdown of each type: Single Classes These are one-time classes that take place on a specific date—often on evenings, weekends, no-school days, or during school breaks. They are perfect for trying something new or enjoying a one-time creative experience. Registration is for that day only. A single day of a Multi-Week Session of Full-Week Camp can be purchased at the full price of that class. Multi-Week Sessions These classes run over several consecutive weeks, usually between 6–10 weeks. They are sold as a package and offer a deeper, more consistent learning experience. Pricing is discounted compared to paying per individual class. Full-Week Camps Camps are immersive programs running for 4–5 consecutive days, typically during summer. These include multiple projects and experiences and are priced as a package at a discounted rate. **Important: Registration timelines, cancellation windows, and refund policies differ for each type of class. Please review the relevant policy carefully when registering.

What is the Mask Policy? At Canvas & Code, masks are optional and welcome for anyone who chooses to wear one. We are committed to creating a space where all students, families, and staff feel comfortable and respected. We follow all current state and federal mask guidelines and will adjust our policies if official health recommendations change. Please note: Some artists may choose to wear masks for personal or health reasons—please be respectful of individual choices. In the event of a persistent cough during class, a student may be offered a mask. If the cough continues and the student chooses not to wear one, a parent or guardian may be contacted for early pickup to protect the health of others. If your child is feeling unwell, we ask that they stay home until they are symptom-free, in accordance with our Health & Wellness Policy. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and inclusive creative space for all!

Is there flexibility with ages for each class? We understand that every child and family is unique, and we’re happy to help you find the best fit. In most cases, children do best in the specified age ranges listed for each class or camp. If you’re unsure which class is right for your child, please reach out—we’re happy to talk it through. We can sometimes make exceptions for siblings who wish to attend a class together, as long as both children are close in age and developmental level. However, we cannot make exceptions for preschool-aged children to attend classes designed for elementary-aged students. Please note that most Canvas & Code classes are taught by a single instructor. If your child requires a high level of individualized attention, some classes or camps may not be the right fit. We encourage you to carefully consider your child’s readiness before registering and reach out to us with any questions. Our goal is to ensure that every student has a positive and successful experience!
